What are chargebacks?

Your customer can issue a chargeback to get back the money when they question the charge. A chargeback can happen due to several reasons:

  1. The transaction was fraudulent
  2. The goods/services haven’t been received
  3. Your customer doesn’t recognise or remember the transaction on their card statement (perhaps because the domain name differs from your payment descriptor)
  4. The request was submitted twice (e.g. through refreshing the browser)

Even when you do receive a chargeback, you may be still able to resolve it without losing the sale. Simply provide us with additional information about the transaction to help to remedy the chargeback.

What is the fee for processing a chargeback claim?

The fee for processing a chargeback is €20.

Security and Risk

What is 3-D Secure and why do I need it?

3-D Secure (Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode) is designed to make online shopping safer. At the time of purchase, the cardholder is redirected to the issuing bank’s website to be authenticated (usually by entering a password). The benefit for merchants is that in case of a fraudulent transaction, the liability shifts from the merchant to the issuing bank. EveryPay supports 3DS payments. We do the necessary enrollment for merchants with the cardschemes for accepting 3DS transactions and you don’t need to worry about the registration process.

What fraud prevention measures do you offer?

To avoid fraudulent transactions, the merchant can set certain payment restrictions in our self-service environment. Our customer service will advise you on the limits best suitable for your type of business. For example, you can restrict payment volumes for certain customers, ban certain countries or IP addresses or cancel payments made outside of Europe.

What is PCI DSS?

Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard is the requirement needed to accept payments online. With EveryPay you don’t have to worry about that, as your website won’t touch the sensitive card details making compliance easy for you; you just need to fill out a simple Self-Assessement Questionnaire. Read more about PCI here.
